Norton Anti-virus 2000-2001 problem that might affect your email.
It appears that everything is back to normal with one exception: A lot of people
seem to be having problems that are actually being caused by Norton Anti-virus 2000, and 2001.
Apparently, the changes that these programs make to the setting in you mail client sometimes
don't work, especially since our server has changed. If you try to get your mail, and get an
error that says something about either the number '127.0.0.1' or the server 'pop3.norton.antivirus'
then you are probably having this problem. The fix is pretty straightforward...either uninstall
Norton Anti-virus, and reinstall it, or change the settings in your mail program. Most people
seem to use Outlook Express, so here is the fix for OE. Open Outlook Express, go to Tools then Accounts.
Click on the Mail tab and make sure that Merge is highlighted. Click the Properties button.
Next, click the servers tab. The second line down - "Incoming Mail Server (POP3)" - will probably
read "127.0.0.1" or "pop3.norton.antivirus." If this is the case, change it to mail.mergetel.com
then check the account name line. If there is a /mail.mergetel.com after your account name, remove it.
Then hit Ok, and Close. Close Outlook Express, then open it again and everything should work fine.
Again, thank you for your patience.
