Windows 98 & ME Internet Connection Wizard Setup Instructions
These step-by-step instructions are for 98 and ME. The information can also be used in setting up Windows 95.

Click on the Connect to the Internet icon on your desktop to start,
If an icon is not on the Desktop, click on the START button and go to Programs\Accessories\Communications or\Internet Tools and click on Internet Connection Wizard.

Click on the bottom check button to set up your Internet Connection Manually.

Click on the button for connecting using your phone line and a modem.
- Enter 905-704-7500 in the phone number field.

Turn OFF the check mark on "Dial Using Area Code and Country Code".
- Click on the Advanced button to configure the settings for your
connection.
- Under the Connection Tab:
- Select 'PPP connection'
- Select 'None' under Logon Procedure.
- Under the Addresses Tab:
- Select 'service provider automatically provides one'
under IP address.
- Under DNS Server Address Select'Always use the following' and enter the following values:
- Primary DNS Server: 207.107.54.1
- Alternate DNS Server: 207.107.54.10
- Click the OK button.

Enter your username and password from the yellow Access Agreement.

You may call the connection anything you like, but we recommend calling it "Merge Internet"

Click Yes to setup an Internet Mail Account
- Select create new Internet Mail Account.

Fill in your full name as you would like it to appear in the Display Name field. This gets put in however you want it displayed.

The email address is your username from the Access agreement with
@mergetel.com appended. eg: jsmith@mergetel.com
- The Mail Server is a POP3 server. Fill in these values for the
server names:
- Incoming (POP3) Server: mail.mergetel.com
- Outgoing (SMTP) Server: mail.mergetel.com

Log on to the POP3 Server using the username and password from the Access Agreement.
- You can call the Mail account anything you like, but we recommend
Merge Mail.

Click Finish to save the Settings
Now start Internet Explorer or Outlook Express to go online.
The Merge Homepage is http://www.mergetel.com You can put that in
the Internet Explorer settings for the Home Page. Start Explorer, click
on 'TOOLS' and select 'Internet Options'. Under the General Tab, in the
Home Page box, put the Merge Home Page in the box. Click OK to save.
Outlook Express can also access Usenet (News) Discussion groups. Under the Tools menu click on Accounts.
Click on the News tab and click Add->News. fill in the user information requested as for the Mail Server instructions above. For the News Server itself, it is news.mergetel.com
