Windows XP - How to Create a Dial-Up Connection



From the desktop in the bottom left hand corner click START

Click - Control Panel
Click - Network and Internet Connections
Click - Network Connections

In the Network Connections Window under Network Tasks Choose - Create a New Connection

Click - Next - this opens the Connection Wizard

Click - Connect to the Internet and click Next

Click - Set Up My Internet Connection Manually and click Next

Click - Connect Using a Dial-Up Modem and click Next

For the Connection Name type in Merge and click Next

For the Telephone Number type in 905-704-7500 and click Next

From your Merge Internet Access Agreement type in your Merge User Name (lower case)
Then type in your Merge Password and Password again to confirm password.

Un Check - "Turn On Internet Connection Firewall" (the bottom check box) - click Next

Choose - Add a Shortcut to this Connection to My Desktop - and click Next

In the Connect to Merge window click Properties
Click - Networking
Click - Properties
Click - "Use the Following DNS Server"
Type in - 207.107.54.1 in the Primary DNS
Type in - 207.107.54.10 in the Secondary DNS
Click - Advanced
Make sure "Use Default Gateway" is checked
Close down all windows with OK
